Glossary

  • Speedlight Gate
    • A "set of Gates" consist of a Dual beam timing gate, a Reflector Bar, and two tripods
  • SpeedLink
    • Is a device that allows connection between a wifi enabled device and our Zigbee connected peripherals. Every System needs a Speedlink
  • Wifi Access Point
    • Sets up a Wifi network for ipad and Speedlink to connect to.
  • Speedstart
    • A device used for detecting the start. commonly used to detect when the HAND or the Foot leaves the Speedstart beam
  • SpeedMat
    • A device for measuring vertical jump performance.
  • SpeedReader
    • Is an RFID tag reader. It reads our Speedtags
  • SpeedTag
    • A wristband that houses an RIFD chip for athlete identification
  • Leaderboard
    • Utilizing iPads ability to mirror a screen via an Apple TV, the Leader-board is implement (with an Access Point) to create a score board.
  • Contact Time
    • The time an athlete spends on the ground between successive  jumps
  • Flight Time
    • The time the athlete is off the ground between successive jumps
  • Jump Height
    • Calculated from the flight time
  • Reactive Strength Index
    • Is the jump height divided by contact time. This allows differentiating between two athletes that may have the same VJ height. The athlete that spends the least time on the ground (contact time) will have the more explosive jump
  • RSSI
    • Receive Signal Strength indicator. In our App, the percentage signal Strength is that of the Zigbee link between Gate and Speedlink. Note this is not WIFI signal strength.
  • Squad
    • A group of athletes
  • Dual Beam
    • means two sensing beams that determine when an athlete passes. Both beams must be blocked to signal a valid trigger
  • Normal Starting mode
    • When the system is armed, a green light appears on the first gate, and the beeper sounds  indicating that the system is ready, and when the athlete crosses this gate, timing will start.
  • Two stage starting mode
    • Is a variance of the old 'Ready, Set, Go'. When the coach arms the system, BOTH green and Red lights will be on , on the first gate. The coach watches the athlet, and when he believes the athlete is ready to start, taps 'GO' in the app, the Red light extinguishes, Green stays on, and the beeper sounds, indicating that the system is ready, and when the athlete crosses this gate, timing will start.
  • Steady Start starting mode
    • Can only be used with a SpeedStart OR a gate, when the gate is configured for 'Reaction'. In this mode, once the coach arms the system, RED light will be lit on the first gate. When the Athlete blocks the beam/s, the GREEN light also comes on. The red Light will stay lit UNTIL THE ATHLETE HAS BEEN IN POSITION FOR THREE SECONDS. Once this occurs Green stays on, and the beeper sounds, indicating that the system is ready, and when the athlete crosses this gate, timing will start. NOTE: Ifn reaction mode is selected, an extra random time is added to prevent the athlete anticipating the start signal.
